TYPES OF EVENTS

INTERNALS COMPETITION
Delegates are given an opportunity to compete with each other in 1 of the 13 categories. Alumni and business professionals come in and pose as judges for the event.

 

PROVINCIAL COMPETITION
Held in Toronto during mid January, delegates compete with other delegates from 18 other chapters in Ontario. Delegates can choose to compete in 1 of the 13 case categories or 1 of the 3 events. Networking opportunities, Provincials swag, and food are provided.

 

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION ICDC
Delegates are given the opportunity to join 2000 other students, advisers, and industry leaders in an event that builds leadership development. They are provided with another opportunity to compete with delegates in other chapters within Canada and the US. Delegate are given recognition for their competitive achievements and are provided with networking opportunities. This year, the competition will take place in Washington, DC!

 

COMPETITIVE CATEGORIES

DECA U Quizbowl
In this event, teams enter a jeopardy/reach for the top style competition where they must answer correctly the quickest to gain the most points.

Trainer: Tak Maeda

Advertising Campaign
In this event, teams take on the role of an advertising or marketing firm and develop marketing campaigns for designated clients.

Sponsored Challenge
The event varies depending on the sponsor. This event is oriented towards business and marketing.

Case Boss
In this event, teams represent the school in a comprehensive and competitive event. It may involve the analysis of a firm from different perspectives, working with sponsors, and multiple oral presentations.
